Safe Church Culture

Making a complaint

The Anglican Parish of Dungog is committed, with the Diocese of Newcastle, that our church is a place of safety and transparency with the members of the church and the community of the Dungog Shire.

To ensure safety and security for all members of the community, people in positions of responsibility are asked to complete appropriate checks.

Examples of the systems in place are Safe Ministry Training (every 3 years), Working With Children Check (paid and volunteer members, every 5 years), Faithfulness in Service training, National Police Check (as required).

Members depending on their role may be asked to read, and signify their agreement to Being Together (August 2019, yearly), and Faithfulness in Service (August 2019, yearly).

The Diocese of Newcastle Parish Safety Policy can be accessed at this link: https://www.newcastleanglican.org.au/safe-ministry/parish-safety-policy/

The Anglican Diocese of Newcastle is committed to ensuring that all people who participate in our programs and ministries have a safe and rewarding experience.

The focus of this policy is on the safety of children and vulnerable people.

Professional Standards Protocols provide formal procedures for handling complaints of misconduct. We welcome and encourage people with concerns to come forward by speaking with a contact person. Contact persons are trained to listen, will maintain confidentiality, can help you to understand the processes involved and if required, can assist in documenting the complaint.
